I don't know exactly how to use this forum but I will learn. Pleas excuse any mistakes.
I am looking for any information on my
gggGrandfather William(Bill)GAINEYor LISENBEE.
He ran from the law because he had killed a man that was beating his cousin to death. He
brought his son away from NC area and came south. I do know from what I have found and other cousins have found that he used both last names. I don't really know for sure which one was the original name.
What we have been able to find
William (Bill) GAINEY/LISENBEE (with all spellings) b @1790 North or South Carolina
all I have on his wife is her name was
Son=Silas Gainey married Permelia GAINEY-NELSON. We think the Gainey name came from this marriage.
Silas's Son=Charles Wilburn GAINEY m Abscilla COLLINSWORTH
My COLLINSWORTH family changed their name from COLLINS to COLLINSWORTH and they were thought to be Choctaw.
Thank you for any information you might have or a direction I could go to find it.
