panelipia or penelipa b 1794 in NC married william baker b 1797 married him in 1825. Dont know if its an Indian name for her and I dont have a last name for her listed anywhere. Dont know where in NC but they had some kids there and then moved to WVA. Any help appreceiated.....Sandy

Sounds like Penelope to me. Baker can be found in some Virginia Indian families.

I agree Linda, I'm thinking Penelope also. Remember, the English language was of Old English during this time frame and about to go through the transition into the New English. thanks, and I do think it is probably penelope. There is said to be either cherokee or blackfoot in my family but have not been able to find any related Indian info. So I will keep trying. Thanks again for your replys....Sandy
