  1. Okay,

It will take me about 3 hours to get to the Nottoway Pow Wow but I want to check it out.

I've heard about the Pow Wow in Richmond but the holiday season always got in the way but I think I may go this year.

    Blessings!
  2. Dear Optimistic,

I'm not sure if I'll go to the Nottoway. It's pretty far;probably would take me 3 hrs to get there.

Richmond is not a problem distance wise.

I'll be going to the Powhatan Native in October in Powhatan CO,VA. It's in town on the grounds of a fire station. Went there last year and enjoyed it. Took me a little over an hr to drive down.

The promoters of the Powhatan Native (a Cherokee couple) have another powwow in Richmond in November (?) I believe it's indoors. Wanted to go
last year but got the e-mail about it only one day before and I had previous
commitments. I'm hoping they keep me in the loop for this year.

  3. I think I may attend the Nottoway Indian Tribe of VA Pow Wow in September.

I think I will feel more welcomed at that Pow Wow than what I experienced a couple of years ago at the Monacan Pow Wow. If you know what I mean.

Will you attend the Nottoway Pow Wow in September?

    Blessings!
  4. Yea,

I thought more people would have shown up because the past festivals had more attendance (the photos on their website/more familiar faces from the Pow Wow trail). Maybe the other festivals were held at another location or something and Richmond was not convenient for some. However, Richmond was convenient for me because I came from Northern VA.

    Blessings!
  5. Dear Optimistic,

I left the Richmond gathering around 3:45.

    I learned a lot there. Didn't think there was a White Panther Party/Org. They're not racists;they're socialists.

The Weyanoke Association appears to be legit compared to some of the other Black Indian organizations I've seen.

I had a hard time finding the community center. I hope next year it's at a more accessible location.

It was nice meeting you! I had a good time there despite the small crowd. (20-30 people including Weyanoke members, speakers, vendors, and audience.)

  6. Hi Roca,

It was great meeting you Saturday. I stayed until the event ended. What time did you leave?
