    Hi,
    My cousin Thornton Jeffries and I have been searching for our ancestors for several years now. Our Jeffries ancestors lived mostly in Rappahannock Co. in VA Robert Jeffries was born in 1835 and my cousin says that he was a trader and a laborer through northern VA and MD. He was known as "The Indian" or Indian Bob. My cousin found a record of him spending some time in a Baltimore Co. Jail. But I would like to find out how he came to be known as the Indian and what his tribal affiliation was.

I'm am trying to research my roots and have discovered that my G-G -Grandfather was also known as "the Indian" his name was Robert Jeffries and he was born in 1835. His father was Alexander Jeffries. son of Moses Jeffries.
