There were oral histories in my family that we were part Indian, and I believe that I have confirmed that through my genealogical research. I descend from a man named John Maston Arrasmith (1929-1909) through his daughter Alma Ann Arrasmith (1864-1944), his granddaughter Minta Mae Storer (1897-1973), his great granddaughter Lestie Viola Hart (1919-1944), to her son Loran Gillespie (1939- ) who is my father. I have pictures of John and Alma Arrasmith, which clearly show that they were biracial. John Arrasmith came from Fauquier Co., VA, but I do not believe that he was full blooded Indian. I suspect that it was his maternal grandmother Amelia Williams (1767-1820), through her daughter Sarah Groves (c1796-1871). They were all in Fauquier and Stafford Counties. They were not directly connected with the Carmel Indians of Highland Co., OH, where they moved, but I was curious if there were any known Saponi connections to any of these families.
