My g.g.g. grandfather was James Hendricks b. 1782 d. Dec. 13, 1859. He married Lucy ( Eklum ) Worsham on July 13, 1820 in Caswell Co NC. Lucy was born in Carroll Co. Va. Lucy is supposedly of Indian descent. I am trying to find definitive evidence establishing my heritage. James's son my g.g. grandfather Rufus Lee Hendricks appears to be on rootsweb under Database=Native American Data. And, my g grandfather John Rufus Hendricks b. May 18 1880 d. Sept. 21 1952 married Ivory Elizabeth ( Cooper ) Hendricks. Ivory Elizabeth Cooper b. Mar. 18 1857 in Orgas, WV d. Sept. 30, 1974. I have been told Ivory was Cherokee Indian. Ivory's parents were Father: Blackburn Edward Cooper and her Mother: Minerva Elizabeth Foster. I have seen Ivory's name along with Minerva's name on citizen enrollment applications in the Archival Research Catalog. So, I have avenues to check into regarding most of my Indian ancestry except for Lucy Worsham. I hope I can find some answers here and make some good friends
