The MINCHEW and MINCHEY / MINCEY lines are the same families and “originally” may have been MINSHALL (English).
Should we forget about the John Whitfield in 1790 if he was in Nash Co.? (he’s not a James, either)
Per this “Index of North Carolina Wills…..”
Richard Minchew’s Will dated 1804 in Person Co., is in the State Archives in the “Wills, Inventories, Estate…..” etc. book that is marked “WI-3” and I think this should be on page 278 of that book.
James “Towler” Whitfield’s parents William Whitfield and Mary “Towler” were married 14 Dec 1772 in Goochland Co., Va and up in Goochland, they spelled it TOLER. That might help you a little with that line.
Richard “Minzy” of 1790 Caswell Co is most likely the same as the 1800 Richard Minchey.
Judah (Juda) Minchew (b.1764) is the son of Maximillion (Maxey) Minchew (b.1732, d. 1789 Chowan Co NC) and Mary Bond (b.abt. 1750). Maxey is claimed to be the son of Richard Minchew/ Minchey (b.abt. 1702 in NC or Va), and Hanna (b.abt. 1712) __?__ . Maxey’s will is in Gates Co Will book (also at the State Archives) and lists Judah as his son.
This Richard (b.1702)’s son, Richard Jr., b.abt. 1740, marr’d Judy _?_ .
This Richard Jr is probably the Richard Minchew who died in 1804 Person Co.
I posted something above this post, so scroll up to see that.
