Well, the Dna for my one forbear George Sizemore ( not confirmed any parents for him yet) a direct male desc has tested Q3 which is Native American DNA. So this is belying the myth that the marriages were all Anglo men taking NDN women as spouses. This shows a male NDN. The Sizemores were also Tories during the revolution and I have found these gentlemen on the list of SC Loyalists. This is also an indication not of Cherokee but other Native Americans that backed the English such as some Creek and Catawaba. He married a cousin Lydia Sizemore dtr of owen Sizemore and Elizabeth Bingham, these are my 4 great grandparents. Their daughter Agatha ( aggie ) Sizemore married into my Melungeon 3x granpaw Zachariah Minor. These Sizemores were in both early North carolina and South carolina until moving to Hawkins County Tennessee. And as you know some moved on into Kentucky and Ohio.
Basically the DNA can only tell male line all the way back and female line all the way back, nothing in between at this point. Its use for geneology is more for relationships of different family names and well as the same names. it at this point is only a guide, but it does prove that there is NA in at least some of the Sizemore lines, and it was a male in this particular instance.
ANDERSONS:
AS for my Andersons, they migrated from Virginia to Kentucky via Hawkins County Tennessee as well. It seems that this side of my family took the same trails.
James Anderson born circa 1802 in Virginia married MAry Polly Bonham.( of the Grayson county Bonhams)
Their son Eli Anderson b. 1834 in Va married Margaret Stamper b 1840 in VA ( her parents stopped in Lee Co Va on their way into Kentucky Richard Stamper and Mary Brender ( she being one of my deadends, their beginnings are both in North Carolina)
Their son Elijah Anderson b. 12-11-1973 in Jessemine Co KY married Laura Hopkins b. 1876 in Kentucky.
they had my grgrandmaw Magaret Mae Anderson also born in Kentucky. She was very dark, but from what I have gathered through talking with other researchers, the Hopkins ( also thru the Hawkins/Lee Co area) were the dark part of the family.
I also have Andersons on my paternal side but the earliest I have is a James Anderson as well b circa 1817 but in Ohio. He was my 3x granpaw whose daughter Henrietta b. 1851 in Ohio and d.1928 was my grgrgranmaw. I have not been abel to find anything beyond james in this family. The earliest I fain him is on the 1840 census of Ohio.
Sorry for long post:D Tari
