I have a thread about this elsewhere on the forum, but I should post it here as well.
This event is on Kerr Lake in North Bend Park. We have spaces right on the designated swimming area, so we’re on the beach. There’s a wonderful panorama of 3 miles of pristine, forested lakefront. A small island, which we fancy resembles old Occoneechee Island is across the lake.
There’s lots of discussion on topics we discuss here. There are Tutelo songs and dances we’ll be doing. It’s a great chance to connect with some of the people you know here from the forum and to learn more about what us locals are up to.
There is still campspace available if anyone would like to camp overnight. They allow us two tents per space, so there’s plenty of space. Or come for the day on Saturday. Come to the campground and get a visitor’s pass. Tell them you’re my guest, Linda Carter, at A12. Bring your own lawn chairs and pack a picnic. We will have a grill there you are welcome to use.
Coming from Hwy 58:
Turn south on Hwy 4 (this is about five miles east of Boydton, ten miles west of South Hill). Take that about 8 miles till you reach Kerr dam. Don’t turn onto the dam, but keeping going onto what turns into Mays Chapel Road. Look for the Entrance to North Bend Park. Tell them you are my guest, Linda Carter. I’m in A12. They charge $2 a carload for day use. Saturday is the big day. If you want to camp overnight, there is still room available.
Coming from Hwy 85:
Take 85 to Oine, exit 229. Take Oine north for about 4 miles, you’ll see signs directing you to John Kerr dam. Follow them. Once you cross the dam, you’ll turn left onto Mays Chapel Road and look for the entrance to North Bend Park. Tell them you are my guest, I’m in A12.
