HOLLISTER — Community members and visitors came to the Doe Spun Building on Saturday for the Traditional Festival.
With the event not affiliated with the Haliwa-Saponi tribe, a member of the tribe, Robin Richardson Jones, said she and her husband wanted to put something together since their tribe has not held an annual powwow for three years due to COVID-19. Jones said her daughter, 9-year-old Angel Selena Jones, is the new Little Miss Haliwa-Saponi and was the spark behind the idea for the festival.
