Tom, I hope you don’t mind, but I poked around and found the correct URL for your posting (at least, I think it is the correct one) : http://www.constitution.org/jw/acm_5-m.txt That site has really interesting information for me. My ggg-something grandfather, Regnal Green, Sr., was fined 50 pounds of tobacco or 5 schillings on September 2, 1755, for his failure to report for the muster of the Frederick Co Foot Company of the Virginia Militia. Your URL indicated that Indians had to report for muster or were fined 100 pounds of tobacco. Not sure if Regnal was native or not, but interesting. Think I will see if I can find out if there was a fine for whites.
