Bill, I found a site with some information on Joshua Harlow and Henrietta Larkins. It shows when and where they got married and the names of their parents. Joshua’s father’s name was also Joshua. Did you have this name as a prospect? I saw the name Perkins listed here on the forum also. My Perkins married George Whitman 6-30-1847. Her full name was Mary W. Perkins. They were married here in Greenbrier county. Don’t know who her parents are. She was born 6-6-1830 in Greenbrier co. George Whitman in 1807 in Greenbrier county. Just thought I would mention that since the name Perkins may lead to more Native Ancestors. Talk to you later.
December 29, 2004 at 8:40 pm #12545Yes, that was my pick. Joshua Harlow (Sr.), b.1790’s, married Martha Patsy Carol (Carrol) on Dec 30, 1813, in Fluvanna Co., Va.
His uncle (?) (cousin?) Pleasant Harlow (b.1780’s) had 1 FPC female, under 10 yrs old, in his household in 1830 Fluvanna Co (census, pg.352), and lived 5 houses away from Joshua Sr.
Both Pleasant and Joshua (Sr) Harlow had moved to Albemarle Co by 1840.
1840 Albemarle Co Va census, St. Anne’s, pg.146:
Jos. Harlow’s household contained:
1 male under 5.
1 male 5 to 9.
2 males 10 to 14.
1 male 15 to 19.
1 male 40 to 49.
3 females 10 to 14.
3 females 15 to 19.
1 female 20 to 29.
1 female 30 to 39.
……………
Pleasant did not have any white female children in his 1830 household but has a 15 to 19 yr old white female in his 1840 household which may be the FPC girl under 10, that was in his 1830 household (1840 Albemarle Co census, pg.110).

December 29, 2004 at 8:40 pm #12565Bill, thank you for the time you put into finding this information. It well help me in the future as I search furthur. The only other Harlow in the same county I live in which is greenbrier co. west virginia is a Benjamin F. harlow. I found that he was born in Albermarle co. Virginia the same county that my joshua lived in so I thought he might be related but his father turned out to be henry martin harlow. You mentioned that Pleasent Harlow had a female that was listed as FPC. I remember seeing the name Pleasent before. I well have to chack my notes and see where I saw that name before. Laso there was a harlow that moved to greenbrier county from Ohio that was listed as a FPC. I don’t have his name in front of me but I am going to find it and see if maybe these Harlows are connected to the one’s from Ohio. Again thank you. It makes searching a lot easier when you have friends to help. If I can help you just let me know.
