Hello, I made a few phone calls today and came up with very limited info on my gggrandmother’s ancestry.
All I know at this time is that my ggrandmother was born to a woman whose maiden name was Cornwall? She was at least part- Blackfoot. Her name may have been Lizzie-Belle and she married a Lambert and had at least three sons and two daughters, one of which was my great grandmother who was named Lizzie Belle as well and changed her name to Elizabeth later in life. My ggrandmother was born in Shoals, WVa. which is in Wayne County, which is in eastern Wva, next to the KY state line.
To get more genealogy I will have to make a trip to my grandmother’s house. She has a copy on some research that has already been done. I’ve seen the research before and it is not entirely accurate due to the fact that my grandmother’s father was not the same man who fathered her younger siblings and he is listed as her father. My mother’s father is not the same man as her siblings and my grandmother’s second husband is listed as my mother’s father. My father is also different from my younger brother’s and my stepfather is listed as my father… Are you following me yet?!
It’s a mess! I’m not sure why the relative who did the research and put all of the info into print felt a need to ignore at least three generations’ actual paternity. It is one of those things that is not spoken about openly in the family, but as far as I’m concerned much of what he put into print is a lie.
Well, here I am, new here and already spouting off about my relatives!! I will do the best that I can to get to my grandmother’s house in the next week or two to get the documents I need to provide more information.

I’ll know more when I have the Genealogy research. I have made plans to go get it next month.
Have a Great Day and God Bless![I]

From Wayne County West Virginia Marriage Records database,
Burwell LAMBERT m’d Lizzie CORNWELL
on 19 March 1891 in Wayne Co., WV
The 1900 Census show them living with her parents.
1900
Wayne Co., WV Census – ED107 Butler District, 11 June; Sheet 6B, visit 99:
CORNWELL, Jacob; farmer, July 1833, 66, m’d 31 yrs, Va, Va, Va.
………………, Saphronia; wife, Feb 1848, 52, m’d 31, 4/4, Va,Va,Va
………………, W. J.; son, Dec 1869, 30, WV, Va, Va.
………………, Wayne; son, Mar 1871, 29, WV, Va, Va.
………………, LIZZIE; dau, Aug 1875, 24, m’d 12 yrs,3/1, WV,Va,Va
LAMBERT, Burl; son-in-law, Oct 1866, 33, m’d 12, WV, WV, WV.
CORNWELL, Willey; son, April 1878, 22, Va, Va, Va.
LAMBERT, Earnest; son, April 1898, 2, WV, Va, Va.
So, Jacob and Saphronia have been m’d for 31 yrs and Saphronia has had 4 children and all 4 are living. They were born born in Virginia (the 1st “Va”), their fathers were born in Virginia (the 2nd “Va”), and their mothers were born in Virginia (the 3rd “Va”).
The Month and Year of their birth and their ages are recorded.
“W. J.” is “William” on another census record.
Altho “Lizzie” is listed as a Cornwell, it’s obvious due to the “m’d 12 yrs” for her and Burl Lambert that she is a Lambert. Earnest is the son of Burl and Lizzie, not Jacob’s, per other census records. Lizzie has had 3 children but only 1 is alive.
On the 1930 census, “Burrel” is listed as 1st married at age 26 and “Elisabeth” as 1st married at 15.
Additionally, Lizzie is listed as born in KY on 2 census records but I think that is incorrect.
On the 1920 census, Lizzie B., 14, is listed as Burl and Lizzie Lambert’s daughter. On the 1910 census, Lizzie B. is listed as Elizabeth B., 5 yrs old.
Lizzie is a common nickname for Elizabeth.
“Lizzie”, born in 1875, is listed on the 1880 census as “Mary E.”, so her nickname of “Lizzie” causes me to think her full name was Mary Elizabeth Cornwell.
The 1920 Wayne Co., WV Census, ED165 Union District; 6 January, p.254A, visit 29, shows all of Burl and Lizzie’s children with Lizzie’s parents and her brother living with them:
LAMBERT, Burl; farmer, 51, m’d; WV, WV, WV.
………….., Lizzie; wife, 46, m’d; Ky, Va, Va. (Elizabeth on 1910 cen)
………….., Ernest; son, 21, WV. (Ernest K. on 1910 census)
………….., Emery; son, 17, WV. (Emery W. on 1910 census)
………….., LIZZIE B.; dau, 14, WV. (Elizabeth B. on 1910 census)
………….., Maud; dau, 12, WV. (Maud M. on 1910 census)
………….., Paul; son, 6, WV
CORNWELL, Jacob; Father-in-Law, 86, m’d, Va, Va, Va.
………………, S. J.; Mother-in-Law, 79, m’d, Va, Va, Va.
………………, Wiley; Brother-in-Law, 43, Sgl, WV, Va, Va.
…………………………………………….
I haven’t found Jacob R. Cornwell’s parents nor Saphronia’s maiden name.
Bill
