New information on the Days of Harlan County.
Loyd Day s/o Nancy Day and A.L. Day.
Nancy Day b. Virginia
A.L. Day b. NC
Leander Ledford m. Mary Jane Napier s/o Aley Ledford and Jane Stepp
Not sure how significant this info is at this time because I haven’t had a chance to “think” it thru. However, it seems that Aley Ledford was probably not the father of the Day children.

August 7, 2005 at 11:39 am #15909Hi! My ancestors are also Days. My g,g,g,g,g grandfather was Solomon Day, born in Southampton County, VA in 1788. He was black and white and POSSIBLY some parts Indian. He married a white woman from Pennsylvania named Ann Barnhill.
One of their children was my gggg grandfather, Peter Day, born in the same county in VA in 1823. He married Edith Archer from Hertford County, NC in 1845 in Logan County, OH. Edith was part Indian, white and black.
They moved on to Michigan had had children. Their son Isaiah M. Day was born in 1854 in Cassopolis, MI (my home town). He married Martha Jane Hawkes, daughter of Samuel Hawkes (Hawks) who was a former slave from Nottaway County, VA and Matilda Dungey, who has white, black and Indian blood in her from her parents from VA as well.
Any connection?

August 7, 2005 at 11:39 am #15938Hello Mr. Tsunami ,
Honestly, I do not know if the individuals you speak of are related to my DAYs. Some evidence for Nancy Day says that she was from Lee County Virginia and that she may have died in Harlan County, KY in the 1840’s but that is purely speculation. We probably need to get much farther back in time with my DAY line in order to be able to say anything for sure.
Of course I am no expert on this subject and find this family to be rather confusing so….read at your own risk. LOL
Sincerely,
Sherry
August 7, 2005 at 11:39 am #16329My 3rd Great Grandfather David Collins b. 1799 Knox Co. KY married Juriah Day b.1799?
I don’t have anything further on the Day family.
August 7, 2005 at 11:39 am #16375There was a Day that married one of my Woods in Gibson Co., Indiana in the 1830s or 40s or so — I really forget the timeframe as they are not my direct ancestors. I believe the man’s name was “Laban Day”, the one who married my Wood/s, but I might be wrong about that name as well.
