I am from Warrenton. We were very close to a Dunston family there. In fact Ella Carol Dunston played for our church. Her father is James ” Cefus” Dunston, her mother is Pricilla and she has two brothers and one sister. They were the only Dunston’s I knew of in Warrenton. They are Native American.
October 11, 2005 at 4:03 pm #16923Hello, hello,
What I was told by my mother is that if someone is from Warrenton, and they are a Dunston by blood then they are related. There is also a Dunston page on one of the geneology web sites and someone wrote in stating, all of us Dunstons are related. From what I have been able to gather is that about three brothers from Lancashire, England setteled in that area back in the 1700s and married white, black, and indian women. My maternal grandfather was from Warrenton. He moved to Louisburg around1910 I am not sure as to why he moved but I think it had something to do with my grandmother who was not quite as “light” as he. She was from Louisburg, so he moved to where she was from.

October 11, 2005 at 4:03 pm #16960I grew up in Franklin County, went to school at Perry’s High — later merged into Goldsand. Anyway, I had a math teacher named Mr. Dunston. I know he lived in Louisburg. I also know that he is no longer living. Mr. Dunston was very light complexion. BTW — Perry’s HS was a Black School — it got merged into Goldsand during intergration years after I graduated. It is not far from Warren county.

Thank you very much for the information. I don’t how to thank you enough.
I was under the impression that Haywood’s middle name was “Palmer” rather then “Plummer”, but I could be wrong. Will try to look along the Plummer line. Never know what I may find.
Here is some more information that may help. The Dunstons were land owners in Warren Co.
There is also a Albert Lanaster Dunston, brother of Haywood
Gertrude Dunston’s maiden name was “Finch” She had a sister Ella Finch and a Brother John Harvey Finch

October 11, 2005 at 4:03 pm #17103Bill, Thank you again.
I am wondering what does, “NC” stand for?
At first I though it was North Carolina, but there is no period between the two letters.
I have been searching for a few years trying to find a paper trail on my folks. It is nice to be rewarded with such fine information.
I just can’t say think you enough.
bill
October 11, 2005 at 4:03 pm #17105“NC” is the current postal code for North Carolina. It was spelled out on the census but I abbreviated for the sake of time.
