my friend miss deer n water had me go on a spirit walk ive never been on one but had heard my grandfather speak of it breifly any way she had a wooden bwl n in it was white sage she burned alil bit and had me in my shorts so the sage could rid my im purities i begain to feel comfortable n peaceful i could see a yellow dot apear with my eyes shut i saw 1 of my friends standing there with a deer skin draped over her head she said she was ok and was going as she pulled the head of the deer skin over her head she looked up and she was a deer and ran up the hill with a glance back then ran off a fox and wolf were standing where im standing they look at one another and take off after her it was so real i could smell the air n feel the windthen every thing faded to black n in the corner of my left eye while my eyes were still shut a native man with white n black face paint and horns with like cotton dreads came down and he was screaming n i heard nothing but i jump deern water dump water on me n said i take it you saw him i said i saw someone she said its like a guardian angel but its a realitive of yours n to be glad hes lookin over me i was like wow how kool was that tell me what you guys think im still at awww over this ty chris l hudson
Your vision was quite interesting. Where did you go on the vision walk?
I participated in a sweat lodge 5 years ago and invisioned some Native Americans in the plains on horses with the wind blowing through their hair. I really don’t know what that meant.

Wow Chris,
Your experience was full of things. I’d like to participate in some of the spiritual practices of Natives. Sometimes I think a person has to open themselves spirituallysomehow to allow visions to take place and to permit spirits to convey thier messages to us. There are a lot of things I’d like to do; a naming ceremony for my daughters, sweat lodge for myself, perhaps a spirit walk, but I ‘m so out of touch with people. How does one get lead to participate in these kinds of things?

well now i burn sage my self ive blessed my house useing it and my family you can start with some flut or native chants i down loaded mine off the net play the music burn some white sage n be still and try to look passed your eyes being shut look for colors that could lead you on your spirits journey good luck n let us know what happens
Wild sage grows all around me, especially in the sandy land near rivers and streams. My parents told me they used to harvest it wild and when they butchered a hog (which they always did just after the first frost of the year, and we recently had our first frost)they’d make sage sausage.
Please remember no “real” people would advertise American Indian spirituality online — but a million charlitans would and do.
Please be careful about that.

Basically Vance is saying that you can not and should not seek answers of a Spiritual nature on the internet. Why?
The internet is FULL of questionable people who ‘mix’ medicines.
Meaning they mix Spirituality with New Age, and many other types of religions etc. Personally I will not discuss my spiritual beliefs with just anyone. These types of conversations are like trust–built through time and many, many opportunities to observe character, integrity and commitment. Spirirtuality is personal and anyone willing to offer advice etc over the net immediately becomes ‘suspect.’
I fully understand that you are trying to learn traditions and find your connection. I can only tell that you must find Indian people in person, get to know them, and more importantly let them get to know you. In the Indian community that can take years particulary if they are traditional. I have known people in our community for many years that I did not really become close to for years…and vice verse. While I can not speak for everyone’s experience. Indian people can be very reserved, clannish and friendships aren’t usually immediate.
I trust this does not discourage you, however it may help you to understand why you can not expect individuals over the internet to give you advice on Naming Cermonies, etc. Even in person…
I had a lady at a Pow-Wow approach me about something similiar.
I asked her who her people were and she gave me a response and I suggested that she approach her elders for the information that she sought. That is the best way, if however you are not a part of a tribal community, organization or have family that participates in the traditions. It is best to take your time and find the answers you seek through time, through association and through prayer. If it is important to you and I can see that it is, you have got to have the same level of commitment to learn through patience, persistance and respect.
There are many threads on here that will help you. But you might also try going to Indianz.com and accessing the forum. Do not post–just read and then read some more. Go to Pow-wows.com and do the same–READ, DO NOT post–just continue to read…this may give you some insite. There is also an excellent site on Indian Frauds. This site will help you understand some of the types of people and things on which to be on your guard. I believe that Vance has the address to this site.
Go to pow-wows and observe, and listen to people around, that is the way Indian people learn, through listening and observing with respect. Trust me, if you talk to much about what you know and what you read–you will not learn anything from the people.
I hope and pray that I have not offended you in any way. I understand your sincere desire to learn but trust me please that even the most zealous person must have patience. It is only through patience that we have survived and lived as a people–

this would be a good place to start, but, in general, DO NOT put your faith in any spirituality that you find on line, especially if they want to sell you something. Ask creator to show you the way then follow the path he sets for you.
