Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
Bill, when did Brunswick county become established, and from what county was it formed? In 1740 was present day Brunswick county part of Orange county?
Brunswick County was authorized in 1720 but was not organized until 1732. It was created from parts of Prince George, Surry & Isle of Wight Co’s.
Pr. George had been created in 1702 from Charles City Co.
Surry was created in 1652 from James City Co.
Isle of Wight was created in 1634, and was renamed in 1637 from the original Warrosqoyoake Co.
Orange Co was created in 1734 from Spotsylvania Co.
