Hi,
I have read this site for quite some time now. I have alot of the surnames that have been listed in some on each side of my family.
My Mom’s side: Stephens, and Crider, and Richey. Richey was my Gr Grandfather and they were from Greenfield Indiana. He was to have Blackfoot in him either half or less. His name was Alfred Austin Richey.
Then on my Dad’s side: Goff, Inskeep, Butts, and Williams.
All but Williams were from North Lewisburg, Ohio. In Champaine County. Williams came from Germany and think he went to Vr. after he got to the US

I have INSKEEP, BUTTS, and WILLIAMS in my family…
Bessie INSKEEP (b. 1890) married Earrett HUPMAN. Per census records, Bessie was born in Indiana, but her siblings were all born in Ohio. They lived mostly around Cincinnati and Dayton areas. Earrett HUPMAN is the great-grandson of the JONES, JEFFRIES, and DAYs that I am searching for. These families started out in Greene County, Ohio and then spread out all over the Miami Valley area.
Joseph BUTTS married Minnie REED (another descendant of the DAYs and JEFFRIES). His info is on here at:

I have a several lines of WILILAMS. My 4th great-grandparents are Mary Ann WILLIAMS (born abt. 1811 in Pennsylvania) and Valentine SUMMERS (born abt. 1807 in Ohio (possibly Highland County)). They were married 1832 in Henry County, Indiana. The second one was later on (1870’s+) and married into my STONE family in Indiana. The third line of WILLIAMS married into my DAVIS family, also in Indiana.

I haven’t researched my Williams line past Mary Ann, but per an online tree, her parents are Charles Williams and Mary McClain. I haven’t verified it, but it makes sense. Charles and Mary are both buried in Henry County, Indiana, which is where Mary Ann married Valentine Summers. That particular cemetery happens to be indexed and is at:

The online trees say she was born in Bedford or Fayette Co., Pennsylvania. They also say she has a brother, John R., born about 1807, so it most likely isn’t your John M, born 1816. Do you have a death record for your John M.? It might list his birthplace or parents’ names.

I have both Williams and McLains in my line. Williams was in Shepherdstown, WVA while McLain was in Beaver County, PA. McLain is my Blackfoot ID.

Per the same online tree that I listed above, Mary McClain’s (b. abt 1770 in MD or VA) parents were Jacob McLain (b. BET 1845 – 1855) and Elizabeth Wilson (b. 1754 in Ireland). They vary as to where Jacob was born: Scotland; or Bedford County, Pennsylvania, or Muskingum County, Ohio; or Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, Virginia.
Charles Williams’ (b. 1768 in Orange Co., NY) parents are listed as John Williams (b. abt 1730 in Wales, b. 1809 in Bedford, PA) and Hannah Finch (b. abt 1735 in NY).

Any of those locations make them possibly connected. My McLain ancestor was listed as Scotch-Irish in the obituary of her daughter; however, the family story says she was full-blood.
And the family that her children marry into were from near Fredericksburg. They go to OH and then IA; McLain goes from PA to IA and settle in the same region.
She is my dead-end though. Some stories say she was an orphan. No one seems to know parents. She was born around 1814 to 1817 and marries my Ralston line. Ralston brothers marry women with the Blackfoot ID; the other was named McLennen.
