Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
Hi.
I am new to all this so please bear with me. I am looking for my Indian ancestors. It was said in my family that we had some Indian blood. One Indian ancestor was a lady named Abigail Iddings, born 1811, died 1880 and buried in Piedmont cemetery in Otey, Shawsville, va. She and most of my family lived in Floyd county, VA , and some in Franklin County, VA. Her father was Henry Iddings. He had a lot of land there. He married Hannah ABigal Richardson , born 1789. They had a number of children, including callohill Hall. I have all the names. That was on my maternal grandfather’s side. It is said by some that there was some Indian blood on my grandmother’s side. Some of those names were Conner, lawrence, Wilson, and were all in Floyd county also. Any help you can give me with this is much appreciated as my southern family, at least the older members who would know something, wouldn’t talk about it. Many of you probably know how hard it is to find indian ancestry in VA as there was such an effort to keep people from saying they were Indian. I have a good bit of info I am happy to share.
