Brent Kennedy

I belong to the Mason/Gibson family site, and yes, I heard it there. Also, I have been getting e-mails from the Melungeon website and hearing bits and pieces from Nancy Spark Morrison’s Melungeon site, too.

Brent had a more minor stroke at first – he came home and was answering e-mails when he got back from the hospital, then he had this second, far more serious stroke. I hear from the Melungeon site that Brent is in a coma, he had lost the gag reflex, but his physical condition has not changed, which they say is a good thing. I don’t know why no change is a good thing, as I am not a medical person. If you pray, Brent sure could use some prayers.

I am glad to report from what I hear, per a letter from Brent’s wife Robyn, that Brent Kennedy is doing much better. He is now in a rehab center in GA, where they work with him and his four other roommates constantly. From what I have read, Brent is given Physical, Speech, and Occupational Therapy twice a day, each therapy, making six therapy sessions a day. He is starting to get back his facial expressions – he tries to smile and raise his eyebrows, but only the left side of his face works so far. Brent can open and close his mouth on command, and strength is definitely coming back to his left side, while his right side is showing improved tone. He is not speaking as of yet – hopefully that will come soon.
