Hi Spilleddi,
Thank you for the Napper/Napier heads up. I’ll have to check that one out.
My Grandfather used to kidd around and call himself Napper. I had no idea it may be a legitimate name.

January 16, 2006 at 11:58 pm #18640I have an Elizabeth Evelyn NAPIER b. 10 Dec 1816 in Wilkes Co, NC who married into the CORN line. Unfortunately she married a CORN that we cannot tie into the rest of the clan – Humphrey Posey CORN. Humphrey was born 19 Jan 1812 in North Carolina. I found him in Walker Co, GA in 1840 but by 1850 the family was back in Buncombe Co, NC and that is where they stayed. Elizabeth must have died before 1880 as Humphrey was living alone for that census. They had 8 children.
January 16, 2006 at 11:58 pm #18655Hi JM,
I have the name Corns but not Corn in my family. I wonder if the name is interchangable as are so many others?!
I don’t have any info on that family though. Maybe I should look into it.
I have Sarah Corns b.abt 1756 married to Edmund Napier b. abt 1754. This is the Napier/Napper family I descend from.

January 16, 2006 at 11:58 pm #18656Hello Debi –
Yes, generally speaking the names Corn, Corne, Cornn, Corns, Cornes, and Chorn all come together back in the distant past. We don’t have all the branches connected yet but we are working on it. I have not run across your Sarah as yet but the resident expert on the surname Corns is Lorna Corns-Workman. You can contact her thru her web page of Corn Research at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~corn/.

January 16, 2006 at 11:58 pm #18666In case you haven’t found it, I forgot to mention this in my last post. I had mentioned somethings about the Napper family’s possible Indian roots in a previous post on 1/08/06, under the “Need help w/Hanover Co NDNs” heading. The book I have has specifics on names of Nappers that left Louisa county Va for Ohio, and their descendents.
January 16, 2006 at 11:58 pm #18695Thanks John…..
I’ll check out the website….:)
Spilleddi,
I’ll look at the NDN Napper posting…Thanks!
