Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
Upon researching my Mayo (NC) family line, I’ve come across this info on a related (maybe) family descended from Mayos. Their Mayos married into the Beasley and Roun(d)tree families in NC. I just found some info I had written down, from earlier research on Ancestry.
1880 Census
Fannie Boyce
Age: 4
Born: NC
Daughter
Upper, Chowan, NC
Single, Black, Female
Father: Wiley Boyce (NC)
Mother: Charlotte Boyce (NC)
(I’m assuming this record is the Edenton District NC 1880 Census) Record #162:
Boyce, Wiley – B – M – 40 – Head – Farm Laborer
Boyce, Charlotte – B – F – 26 – Wife – Keeping House
Boyce, Robert L. – B – M – 13 – Son – at home
“, Louisa? E. – B – F – 11 – Daughter
“, George W. – B – M – 8 – Son
“, Fannie – B – F – 4 – Daughter
“, Willie E. – B – M – 2 – Daughter
“, Charly? C. – B – M – 9/12 – son
I don’t see Mary’s name in here….assuming this is the right family. So maybe Mary and Fannie’s MOTHER was a MAYO, not their father, as I previously assumed.
