Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
Are any of you familiar with Google Earth or the National Geographic TOPO map series.
Both of these are great tools for looking at the area your ancestors came from. The detail on the National Geographic TOPO cd’s is just awesome.
Without it, all of the counties in VA and TN are lost on me. Now I realize how close everything is and can see how they would have easily travelled from Lee County, VA to Hawkins County, TN.
I have found Kyles Ford and Blackwater Church, both very near Newman’s Ridge.
For those of you who are unfamiliar, download Google Earth (it’s free) and you can go anywhere in the world (I can even see my truck in front of my house!).
