Hi Everyone:
Just given a book by a relative called “Life by the Roaring Roanoke” By Susan Bracey, 1977.
Anyone read it? heard of it?
I am told it is available in libraries down there. (meck co.)
It mentions lots of stuff. (havent read it, just time to glance. )
Starts off with “Land of Occaneechi”. Talks about 1600s and mentions shows some artifacts. Also talks about some collectors from area.Talks about early 1700s as well as when Meck. co split from Lun. in 1765.
There are different pictures of houses, and many topics are covered. Book goes up to 1900s and talks about different industriesup to 1970s.
In back there lots of references.
Lists of names of co. clerks, soliders in French Indian War.
House of Burgesses reps.
Names of soliders in other eras up to Civil War.
Names of Free Blacks in 1800s.
Lots of references as well.
I hope to read soon.

We have a copy, or maybe my ex just has it now. I read the chapter on the Occoneechee’s, not much after that.
