Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
My great grandmother and grandmother were both full blooded Blackfoot, although our indian heritage was never talked about in my family. Along with pictures of both of them, I know of some of
our history based on death certficates and a copyb of my grandmothers origanal social security card application which provided her parents names. Both of my grandmothers were born in N. Carolina as well as my grandfather. My great grandmother was born in 1869 with the sur name of “Jackson”, she died in 1938, by that time she was living in Philidelphia, PA.: she gave birth to my grandmother in 1883 and and older daughter in around 1880- 1881, both had the sur name of “Webb”. It is unclear whether she married in to the Webb family though as I could not find and marriage info. When my greatgrandmother died her sur name as “Ayers”. My grandmother was living in New York by the early 1920. I do not know if my great grandmother left N. Carolina with her 2 girls(grandma)heading north together intially. I am curious about the orgin of the Webb and Jackson surname, also how the managed to stay in the south so long after the civil war. Any answers on either I’d be happy to hear.
Hi, Judith, Welcome.
I’d need your G-Grandmother and Grandmother’s names to help.
Do you know where they lived in NC?
Bill
