Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
trying to help a friend with a Blackfoot ID, This is the info I have
Charles “Cash/Cashier” Smith he was from Drakesboro Kentucky born somewhere around 1900. The family would have Black and Indian blood. Does anyone have this person in their line? Thanks to anyone if you can help. LUV YALL
Christina,
Drakesboro is out in Muhlenburg County in Western Ky.
A ‘quick check’ didn’t turn up any SMITHes in that county for a couple of census years.
Can you get additional information?
Bill
This is from an email my friend sent me:
My Grand’s name is Leslie Shively Smith (this was Cash’s Spouse)
I doubt he is listed on anything though..he was
probably just dismissed as “colored” but Grand (a
historian) made it clear since I was born that HE was
part Indian..
As always Bill thanks for your leg work!
Still nothing found.
This usually only happens on two names when the location and/or time period looked at is incorrect.
Bill
Hmm okay thanks Bill I will talk to her more when I get a chance. Thanks again for your help! To be continued lol
