I am searching for information on my family names of: Marsh, Curry Adams, Crouse, and Adams
Marsh (Susanna) is listed on the 1810 census as being a FB Pamunkey married to a Scottish riverboat captain, she was from the Northumberland, VA area as were alot of relatives on my fathers side; Curry we are told is Cherokee (Alice Colburn Curry, b. 1900) from out of Maryland; Adams (Frank Jenkins Adams, b. 1895) married Alice C. Curry (my grandparents on my mom’s side)…
Let’s stop there, I’m at work right now and I don’t want to get in trouble…
Bill, Linda is a very dear friend of mine and sister in the IWC. She said that you may be of some help (crossing fingers). I have been at this geneaology research for the last 16 yrs. off and on. Think you can clear up some mysteries here? I found stuff that was suppose to be kept buried, oops!
Thanks,
Tess

Margaret is still there in 1870, but not in 1880 and I’m trying to confirm if she is the Margaret Crouse who m’d Abraham U. Bankerts on 29 May 1876 in Carroll Co, regardless of her being listed in 1910 as only m’d once.
Carroll Co is the next county NW of Baltimore and Harford Co is the next county NE of Baltimore.

March 28, 2006 at 9:24 pm #20140Thank you so much Bill, this brings me a little closer…however I do have some questions about what some of the abbreviations stand for like, m’d; Ill, Eng, Md.; m’d; Md, Md, Md. etc…
Didn’t find anything on Susanna Marsh who married the Scottish riverboat captain? Last names were Green, Marsh (Mush, Mursh), Tyler, Mullin (Mullen), or Bladen…
Thanks for all that you do Bill…

March 28, 2006 at 9:24 pm #20144I haven’t looked for the Marshes yet.
m’d = married
Ill, Eng, Md = he was born in Illinois; his father was born in England; his mother was born in Maryland.
Md, Md, Md = she was born in Maryland and both her father and mother were born in Maryland.
Benjamin Adams immigrated from England in 1868 according to what someone at that residence told the census taker.

March 28, 2006 at 9:24 pm #21350The above mentioned line in my family is documented as the Pamunkey/Catawba side due to my GGGrandma, Sussanna Marsh who married Daniel Welch, Sept 1, 1795 who was a river boat captain of Scottish decent.
On the 1810 census there is a person of indian heritage in the household, a grandmother. They believe that it is Sussanna (Susan) Marsh.
The Cherokee side is Adams and Curry from out of Maryland.
*Frank Jenkins Adams, (parents: Margaret Catherine Crouse and Benjamin Adams)
*Alice Colburn Curry, (parents: Dave Curry and Sallie ?)

March 28, 2006 at 9:24 pm #35532Hi Tess,
I just signed on today. I see you also have Curry as a surname. I have Curry and Gibson family from the Virginia area. Most come from Bath co. and Albemarle Co. area. Tazwell Gibson is a direct decendant of mine and Joseph Curry. If you want to know anything more I can give you what I have. I don’t know how we are tied in with the indian tribes or the melungeons,, but it was passed down that some how we have an indian connection, plus we have a whole lot of gene traits. Good luck, Todd
