Found this picture of Charlotta Gibson Sexton and could not believe the resemblance to my GGGrandmother Ibby Gibson Baldwin. I would like to see if their if she is connected to my Gibson line. Also her married name is sexton, and I have seen this name in items associated with the Gibson’s. My halfsisters mother was from the Sexton’s of Kentucky.

You’ll have to send the pictures to Linda Carter, telling her which thread you want them posted to.
I’ll need more info on Charlotta Gibson.

April 17, 2006 at 10:53 pm #20406Thanks Bill, I will send them to Linda. All I have on Charlotta is that her mother was Levicy Collins Gibson, and her spouse was Clark Sexton. I think I found her in the 1870 census for Floyd County, Kentucky, where she is listed as Lotta and Clark is listed as head of household.

April 17, 2006 at 10:53 pm #20409They are in 1860 Hancock Tn as John (Clark) Sexton & Letty – compare kids’ names – and in 1880 & 1900 Lee Co, Va with their kids’ families nearby.
Look for Clark Sexton in 1850 Letcher Co., Ky – farm laborers in this time almost always prove to be relatives.
“Letta Ann” dau of Jesse Gipson & Lavisey in 1850 Hancock Tn, may be Lotta/Charlotta.
They sure are mind-benders, eh?

Looks like her, alot of familiar surnames too. I remember having the same trouble trying to find Ibby, in the census she was listed as Lbby. I will have to see if I can find where the tie is. I sent the pictures to Linda, so they should be posted soon. Thanks Bill.
