Excavating Occaneechi Town

You now have a fairly definitive article on these items and can also click on either large or small pendant and have a nice picture of both. The article not only describes each piece but gives an early description by John Lawson which is very interesting. One of the articles on this site speaks of a rattlesnake design but I could not find any more information on that. In this instant they were located on bodies worn as goget or pendant but the thought of a toy brings back memories of my Grandmother(Native American Descended) taking out large button from her sewing basket and beeswaxing thread to run through the holes and having fixed this exciting looking contraption for a little boy fitting it on my hand and fingers and then giving instructions started me on an adventure that lasted for hours with my imagination running as wild as the spinning button. I’m talking about a button some 1 1/2 ” diameter or larger and now I have her buttons in two antique canning jars on display in our home.
