Wakelona ?

I am in search of any info re: Helen Wakelona Stout (born 1899 NC) my maternal grandmother. She married Joseph Clendenin Thompson (born 1897 NC). For some time they lived in the area of Graham NC and they are buried there today. I can find no record of either of their births or their marriage and failed memories and a missing Family Bible have tied my hands. Due to her middle name, her appearance and that of some family members, I am almost sure we are of Indian heritage of some sort.

I am trying to do this family tree for my son who is in the military (has a VERY obvious occipital bump & shovel teeth) who married a girl with the last name of Eades from eastern Tennessee (who had a 6th finger removed at an early age & also has shovel teeth). They both want to know their heritage for the health of their children, one age 3 and one due in Sept.

I have some info on the family further back but cannot document anything until I can document my grandmother. Thanks for any help or direction.
