Does anyone know of any Indian Tribes residing in Charlotte County, VA? Has anyone every heard of the Wamamac or Wamac Indians? I am not sure if I spelled it right.

Dear Erica,

Wamamac/Wamac sounds a little bit like “Waccamaw”,which I think is an Eastern Sioux (?) group.I’m not sure where their homeland was.

Thanks Roca!

I did a little bit more research and found out that the Waccamaws are from South Carolina.

A friend of the family mother’s father was a full-blooded Indian from Charlotte County, Va and I think she said that he was Waccamaw. I know I need to gather up more info…like his name:)
