Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
Peace To All
Has anyone researched or otherwise come across what life was like for a carpenter (of eastern Sioux) heritage in 1820- 1840? I am also trying to figure out which artisan and trade areas, mill complexes, etc, were in Person County in 1840 and if any members of the Stewart, Bass, Chavis, Jones, and Day families were known to trade there.
2. Were the Person County Indians the center of trade? Did they extend into Halifax, Va and Christi, Va? Or is that area connected to the Haliwa- group?
Thank you for sharing,
Akhasa
