August 23, 2006 at 10:32 am #22801Wentlock, Vt., does not appear as any ‘result’ on any ‘Mapping’ program.
An EZRA and Lovina Carter are listed with a presumed daughter NICENA, 9, b. Vt, on the 1850 Coos Co., NH census. Is this the Nicena to whom you’re referring?

August 23, 2006 at 10:32 am #22840I wasn’t able to add to your knowledge of Ezra’s and Lovina’s parents but I don’t have much reference material for New England.
Ezra Carter is listed on the 1840 Essex Co., Vt, WENLOCH Twp Census, where they are both listed as in their 20’s with 2 female children under 5, who compare with the 1850 Coos Co., NH census of Tammy, 13; and Emily, 11.
Ezra, 40, is listed as born in Maine on that 1850 Coos Co. Census, and his wife Lovina is 31, b. NH.
On the 1830 Cumberland Co., Me., census for Scarborough Twp, is an
Ezra Carter, age 50 to 59, who has a male aged 10 to 14 in his household.
On the 1840 Cumberland Co., Me., census is an Ezra and an Ezra Jr, but Jr is still there in 1850 so can not be your Ezra Carter. While “Ezra” is a fairly common name in New England, I didn’t find this name in other Carter familes in Maine and coupled with the fact that the Cumberland Co., Maine Ezra Sr is listed as born in NH on the 1850 census (b.abt. 1773) , I’d say he and his relatives would be your prime candidates to research as ancestors of your Ezra.
Joseph Hart, was b.abt. 1831 in England.
their sons William and Alfred had moved to Oxford Co., Maine by 1900.
Frank remained in Coos Co., NH and his mother Nicena, 79, was living with Frank and his wife Lorinda B. (Hagar) Hart.
Lillian M., b.abt. 1859 NH, dau of Joseph and Nicena, marr’d A. Allen Chase.
John W. Stevens, b.abt. Oct 1834 NH, appears to be the same person as the John W. Stevens who is listed on the 1900 Coos Co., NH.

August 23, 2006 at 10:32 am #22901most of the facts are true the family name Ezra [Nicena father had a son named Ezra and his father was Danel I think born in 1780.
One of the Ezra On the 1830 Cumberland Co., Me., census for Scarborough Twp, is an
Ezra Carter, age 50 to 59, who has a male aged 10 to 14 in his household.
