I really don’t know where to begin with this one.
In a search for bowden here on the forum is the Bolling etc. thread which is rather long now, but rsmith0127 posted…I sure hope you are still around!
From the John Bowdoin/Margaret Webb to John Bowden Jr..within same line is his brother Elias married to Celia Lawrence. Elias born Isle of Wight April 1793. His daughter Jackie marries James H Howard..the son of Barnett Howard and Jane Hunt a daughter of Memucan Hunt. James H Howard and Jacky Bowden Howard died in Henry co Tn, but were born in NC. There are numerous Howards going into Tn and some into Ky and elsewhere.
The Howard line connects back to the Allen, as Barnett’s mother is an Allen.

October 20, 2006 at 3:11 pm #23331Barnet, Allen, Brodie and John Howard are in 1810 Granville Co., NC.
John’s not there in 1820 and a James and Thomas join Barnet & Allen Howard.
On the 1840 Henry Co., Tenn census, Rev. War Vet Elias Bowden is listed as 77 y/o and there’s a young Elias Bowden, 20 to 29 y/o there also.
October 20, 2006 at 3:11 pm #23352Thanks Bill!
This is interesting..John Gay married to Matha Elias Harper…
The children of John Gay, whose will was entered for probate in 1808 in Nash Co. NC, are listed in the petition for division of land they held as tenants-in-common.) In the court records the heirs are listed in varying order in various records. The petition for division of land names Mills Gay, Elias Gay, Jordan Bass and wife Bethany, Hardy Hunt and wife Nancy, Elizabeth Gay, Willis Gay, Mourning Gay, Jordan Gay, John Gay, Josiah Gay, James Gay, “the last two being non-residents…. (Nash Co. deeds Feb Ct. 1809).> (from Genforum Gay site)
Elias Gay marries Frances Bowden, daughter of Elias Bowden and Celia Lawrence. See Jordan Bass…Father Jacob..his Father John and Elizabeth Winborne, his father John and 1. Love Harris and a 2. Mary? These being from the Nansemond Indian Bass line.
I wish I could retitle this thread. If I start a new one the info gets separated..

October 20, 2006 at 3:11 pm #23356I found marriage bonds on many Bowdens in Granville Co., NC back to 1780s & 1790s, along with a few of the Howards I mentioned in the previous post. Are there any you need?
Also, there’s a Sam’l Wells, orphan of Jno. Wells, bound out to William Bowden in 1758 Granville NC. and a William Bowdown (s.i.c. ) who took Oath to Support the State in 1777 Granville NC. This could be the same William Bowden who signed an October 29, 1785 marriage bond in Granville when a James Bowden m’d Priscilla Wiliams.
Elias Bowden, Thomas Bowden, Elias Gay & Joseph Gay are also in 1820 Granville NC.
I forgot to mention that in 1850 Henry Co., Tn, 3rd house before James H. and Jackey Howard (and Celia Bowden, 82, Va), is Memican Howard, 28, b. Tenn.
October 20, 2006 at 3:11 pm #23395Thanks for the offer of marriage bonds Bill. I don’t know where I am at the moment. Just lost in a vast sea of names! The Memucan Howard of James and Jacky married Angeline Morphus. I’ve never seen that surname before. Saj
October 20, 2006 at 3:11 pm #25147Hi Saj!
You won’t believe what happened, I got up hours ago and did a lengthy
post to you on those names and then when I clicked to send I got a message
that I have to wait 58-60 seconds between messages but I didn’t send a
previous one so I don’t know what it was about., Here it is again.

Allen Howard and Phoebe Marshall: They are listed on the 1751-1752
Crane Creek Quaker Meetings in Chatham and Orange Counties.
Apparently, Phoebe Summer and William Marshill (spelled that way on the 1751list) got married there and the 1758 Deep River list of Guilford Co. lists her
as Phebe Marshall. He isn’t listed so I am assuming that probably he was in the Revolutionary Arrmy at that time.
I also have a listing for Rachel Howard.1751-
