Sidney Norfleet Pettiford

Hi Poohbear,

The following census records will show Sidney/Sydney Pettiford’s parents are:

William Pettiford, b.abt. 1834, probably in Person Co., NC and

Sarah Emily _?_ (maybe Whitt/s ) , b.abt. 1843, probably in Person Co., even though the 1900 census lists her as b. May 1860, the other census records are fairly consistent with the 1843 birth year.

Sidney Pettiford d. in the 1920’s and there is a listing for a Sydney Pettiford, d. 8 June 1929 in Moore Co., NC, on the NC Death Index but I’m uncertain this is the same person.

I have few records covering the period later than 1930.

All spelling is as found on the census records.

All persons listed, and their parents, were born in NC.

Next door ( I think this is another son of Emily and her having only 2 children is incorrect per the 1910, 1880 & 1870 census. This John Pettiford lived next door to Emily for over 30 yrs and is listed as her son in 1910 census.)
