Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
i posted this somewhere else and i figured out i should of posted it here so anyway ,my research has led me to my great great great great grand father John collins of virgina he had a daughter rebecca collins in 1741 in virgina she then married stephen carpenter of virgina in TN in 1764 and they had a son fielding carpenter in 1775 in surry county,NC. here is where the problem comes in i found a orange county virgina court record where john collins was held in court on jan 27 1743 for stealing a man named Lawrence strothers hogs john was with what the record says other soponi indians, the thing is i cant seem to prove that it is the same john collins and, any clarification on this matter would help me a great deal.
Hi, Randy,
Use the ‘Search’ button above and search on “collins” .
Would you like to share your proof that Stephen Carpenter’s wife was a Rebecca Collins?
Bill
My proof comes from a land deed that states that john collins sold land to stephen carpenter husband of his daughter rebecca. i also found documents in a library that stated the same thing as well as mentioned who they were and when thay were married and all the places the lived as well as, listed there childrens names and when they were born.
Randy,
Could we prevail upon you to post the information?
Bill
