I have been searching for Sally Tucker who was born in 1793 perhaps in Bute Co NC. She married Pleasant Pardue 29 May 1811 in Warren Co ,NC. In searching for Tuckers in that area ,I have discovered a George Tucker in Bute Co ,NC who married Jemima Malone about 1743.He came from Prince George Co ,Va. Sally had a sister, Blanket Tucker who married Pleasant’s brother William Pardue.I thought perhaps that could be ” “Blanchett “Tucker for the colonial Va family…. But I think in my heart that Sally and Blanket may have been native Americans. My grandfather was dark, short and muscular with straight coarse thick black hair and little body hair.I have heard that some Perdues/Pardues were melungeon..and French Huguenots and I know that several of them did marry native Americans.
I think there were Saphoni Indians in Fishing Creek and Sandy Creek area where they lived. Sally died in 1818 .Pleasant remarried Elizabeth Brooks in Orange Co ,NC and went to Tn but strangely he left my 3ggrandfather , James Perdue who was about 5 years old in Warren Co ,NC….it must have been with his mother, Sally’s family ..the Tuckers…..
later another of Pleasant’s sons from the second marriage goes to Tishimingo Co Mississppi ..a gathering place for the Chickasaw Indians.
How do I find if Sally Tucker ( 1793-1818) was native American?
March 27, 2007 at 1:01 am #25532Bute Co., NC was created in 1764 but abolished in 1779. The records for Bute Co are in Warren and Franklin Co., NC.
There are numerous Tucker households in 1790, 1800 and 1810 Warren Co and several have young females fitting the age range for Sally. Have you researched those families?
