Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
Red Metis,
I noticed it is your birthday, hope you have a wonderful day!:)
Blessings,
Shirley
Thank you, Shirley!
Had a rotten birthday!!! A massive gallstone attack that I’m still battling now was my present.
Had no idea such a small object could produce such massive pain, either. Got to handle it–it’s not safe for me to have surgery now unless the stone gets lodged or I get jaundiced…
May this be a warning to us all–Indians are supposed to be prone to gallstones.:(
Red Metis,
🙁 I am so sorry to hear you have been in so much pain…and your birthday. I have not experienced the pain, but family and friends have…my prayers are with you that you are back to health sooon!
Yes, gallstones can be genetic as our bodies have a way of dealing with things differently (sounds very scientific huh?). Seriously, I just happen to be studying this in Chemistry (yuck, but I have to do it to graduate). Gallstones are formed when cholesterol limits exceed saturation levels in the bile. In fact gallstones are made up of primarily cholesterol, with some calcium salts, fatty acids and phospholipids.
Just some factoids: tough for me to swallow as I love deepfried, yummy foods.
The typical American diet includes 400-500 mg cholesterol, one of the highest in the world. The AMA suggests we consume no more than 300 mg per day.
You are right Red Metis this should be a warning…Again I hope you are well soon:)
Shirley
