Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
I was doing genealogical research on my family’s lineage. I have hit a dead end concerning my great grandfather Otis Young. My grandmother told us that he was born on September 20, 1890 and was of Native American descent but we are not sure if he was half or full. I know his mother was Native American but we aren’t sure about the ethnicity of his father. She also mentioned that he was from a tribe not to far from Richmond, VA. My grandmother was orphaned by the age of 7 so she doesn’t remember but so much.
I’ve tried searching familysearch.com and ancestry.com. I’ve even contacted the local tribes in that area and so far have had no success. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Need more info..
What was his mother’s name?
What was his wife’s name?
What is your Grandmother’s name?
His first wife name was Florence and his second wife name was Blanche.
My grandmother was named Gladys Elizabeth Young.
I don’t know either of his parents names.
