Yah Connie, there’s a lot of culture and history displayed here. For one, the following shows Indian nations didn’t hesitate to pick up and travel:
Treaty of Prarie du Chien
Notes Over 5,000 Indian warriors of the Chippeways, Sioux, Sac and Foxes, Winnebagoes, Pottowattomies, Menomonies, Ioways and Ottowas tribes were present. Also depicts Gov. Lewis Cass of Michigan and William Clark of Missouri, Commissioners on the part of the United States.
We have read there were Tutelo among the nations gathered with Tecumseh in Indiana around 15 years before this.
The prior portrait has the beautiful woman holding a log wrapped in a blanket saying she’s in mourning. These are not the staged portrait photographs that followed at a later. They are very authentic.
