A re-creation of a 17th century Public Market Day between Native Americans & Colonial Re-enactors. Featuring historic and modern Indian crafts, colonial trade demonstrations, dancing & music, and re-enactments. A cultural celebration of diversity with items for everyone’s Christmas wish list –continuing the economic tradition of the era which also opened a dialogue between two worlds.

This was a great event last year. I do recommend taking a jacket or blanket since the weather can be pretty chilly. Looking forward to going again this year.

Dear Dear Becky
I wish I had known about it before today, cause I have prior engagement. I was told yesterday that there was going to be a Pow
Pow held in or around Laurinburg some time next month. At this time don’t know exact date. I will post as soon as get more info . This is also to say hello and I hope we can get togeather again soon even if it is just to visit. I am planning to go to Mt. Airy soon to recover some of the thing’s that was left to my mother. That has been stored for over 50 yrs. I am hoping this will also bring some of my History to light that has been kept from my mother and the rest of my sibbling’s. So long for now May the Creator and our Ancestors keep watch for you and your’s.

Even though the weather started out cold and windy, by the middle of the day the sun was warming things up. We enjoyed dancing with the colonial reenactors. It was a very interesting day to watch the colonial traders and storytellers. Too bad it won’t be continued next year…may be it will resurface later…and may be earlier in the year when it’s not so cold.
We mainly did an exhibition of the different dances and explained our regalia. I think the public really enjoyed Tony Nelson’s version of the snake dance…never wound one so tight. And it was followed by a two step….didn’t even have time to catch our breath. But, we enjoyed our day and the drive and the chance to see the changing leaves.
