Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
Apologies if this is stuff everybody has seen – I’ve been wandering the internet too much lately, and stumbled on this:
http://www.lva.lib.va.us/whatwehave/native_americans.htm
In particular there is this:
Jane Douglas Summers Brown. Papers, 1963—1993. Accession 34568.
Titled “Beyond the Blackwater,” this collection contains excerpts from printed and original sources pertaining to the history of the Meherrin and Nottoway Indians, as well as other associated tribes in southside Virginia.
Jane Douglas Summers Brown. Papers, 1936—1998. Accession 37425.
A collection of clippings, correspondence, and manuscripts documenting Brown’s work on regional histories of South Carolina and Virginia, including material on the Catawba and Saponi tribes.
I searched the forum for Summers Brown and found a few references to a book she wrote on the Catawba (I think Tom quoted from it) but could there be other stuff in Richmond?
Something to add to a summer road trip?
Barbara
