Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
I have been told all my life that we have Blackfoot Indian in our bloodline. My mother said that it is on my maternal grandmothers side. I have the following names with maiden names for the women in () .
My mother – Glenna Hammons (Sullivan) Born 1939 in Russell Co. KY
Her mother – Lura Sullivan (West) Born in 1915 in Russell Co. KY (we think)
Her mother – Viola Lola West (Stephens) Born in 1879, not sure where
Her father & mother – Andrew J. Stephens born 1853 & Mary Polly (Baily) born 1843, not sure where
We believe Andrew J’s parents were Andrew Stephens and Elizabeth Milly (Perry)
Mary Polly’s parents were Martha Pattie (Stephens) and John L. Baily
Andrew’s (sr) parents were
Welcome Stephens, born in 1764 and Nancy (Ann), born in 1775.
Although we are not sure of all birth places, they did end up in Russell Co. KY at some point.
I have been trying to find out how far back the indian bloodline goes but have failed. You can even see in pictures, the high cheekbones, the hair, eyes, etc.
Any information that you can offer would be great!
My personal email is also teeter9295@aol.com
