April 15, 2008 at 6:06 am #32726I’m bringing this back for the Smith’s of Ohio topic. Is this Moses Smith the same? Moses B and Sarah Niles Haley had a son Isaac who married Catheryn and had a daughter Sarah Ellen Smith. Sarah married Asa Howard and had a daughter Lydia who married David Woolery. these are my GGrandparents

I keep looking at this and getting next to nowhere. You said married in Ky in 1806?
We know that Asa Howard goes back to the Howard/Allen line out of Granville co NC and earlier Va. A branch of this Allen line is married to the Smith family of the Smith Ferry group in Davies co Ky. The father in law to this particular Moses Smith of the Smith Ferry is Charles Allen who came out of the same NC area. His brother stayed in Person co NC and joined him a few years later in Ky. (my direct line). There are more Moses Smith persons in this family and I have no idea how many. Like I said, in looking at this I’m not making much headway. Saj
April 15, 2008 at 6:06 am #32745Thanks Sue. I find humor each time I discover more family LOOPS. I have found family ties between my Mom and Dad. Usually not direct blood lines but rather by marriages and inter-marriages. I find different families travel together and have multiple intermarriages within the families. (ie, Howards/Allens).
I am never really sure of any of my dates. The 1806 marriage date may not be accurate, though most likey real close. This Smith family is a real mystery to me still even today. My Isaac Smith married Catherine Franklin to have a daughter Sarah Ellen Smith who married Asa Howard. So here goes another LOOP in the family line.
One of my little sister’s husbands Mom was a Byrd, common Cherokee name, who was a cuzn by marriage of my Grandpa Woolery.
