Hey Family,
Is everyone all right after yesterday’s storms? Saw some of the damage on the news–looked pretty bad. I’m not sure of everyone’s local, so I just wanted to ask to be sure.

My wife just got up to VA on Sunday. Her mother and her where out in the rain in Colonial Heights when it started raining too hard for them and they decided to stop at Dennys, eat lunch and take advantage of the WiFi instead of going to South Park shopping. While they were at Dennys the tornado struck South Park. Close call.
Glad to hear your wife is ok, Jack. We have quite a few friends that live in Suffolk and surrounding areas…..please pray for them. That same system passed through our area before turning into tornadoes in Virginia. Going out Highway 10 towards the area where the Nansemond hold their pow wow….know the area well. It was a shock to see the strip mall gone where we had eaten the last several years. May Creator give those affected by this the strength to overcome this.

Lawrenceville, Va is where the tornado hit first and this town is about 20 minutes from my home. There was no warning about it. It was very close to Fort Christanna. It was scary!

Glad to hear you guys are ok. You would think that the local weather station would have picked it up as it came out of Henderson/Vance county….they showed it on the Doppler on Channel 11 as soon as it popped up…the thought of being in a tornado just plain terrifies me. We had one come over the house one night about 10:00 and I will never forget the sound. We were lucky, but my mom’s corn was twisted and flattened. Hope to see you at Clarksville….

Looks like we need to check on the folks in Kansas City, MO, Arkansas, and Texas, too. Nasty system out there right now. Best wishes to anybody in it’s path. Prayers going out for ya.
