Good Morning All!
I found a very interesting post to the Wakefield Family Forum regarding Chief Hegler of the Catawbas. The Wakefields were Quakers who lived among the Catawbas and both had very close and good relationships with each other. If I’m not successful at downloading the site, just google Wakefield Family Forum and use their search engine to search Chief Hegler.
I am finding definite connections between various Tribes – the Quakers and Melungeons that are producing some documents that might help. I sure hadn’t thought of this before. At any rate, keeping in mind that the Quakers had close relations with our First Peoples might be another avenue of finding our early ancestors.
