Hi Steve:
I am a new member to this site. My wife and I are working on a non-commercial genealogy project for our children and grandchildren. She is a descendant of William V. Adkinson, father of Parker Adkins who we believe is the father of Keziah Adkins, who married Georghe Fry(e). I have read a few posts on this site in which Keziah is carried as the daughter of Parker. Many others carry her as a Mallory. We have been in touch with Ronnie Adkins (author of a significant book on this family. We have a copy and would happy to provide you with look-ups or pages should you desire) who believes, as we, that she was an Adkins. Although that relationship is not refelected in his book (1993) he now believes this is the case, primarily based upon her life after her husband’s death and her burial location near Hezikiah Addkins farm.
We try to document everything we do and are having difficulty documenting this relationship. We were curious as to whether anyone here had an awareness of any materials or primary/secondary sources for the same. Thanks for your help. By the way, we also have the Fry(e) family book as well, if that would help others.

Thanks again.

January 29, 2009 at 7:57 pm #33325Parker, George Fry, and Keziah are my ancestors. I connect to both the Adkins and Fry lines through my great grandparents (cousins). I have never seen anything to support the Mallory surname. If you have, it would be interesting to see. It makes me wonder if “Mallory” was a middle name or nickname. Like seeing “Polly” attached to just about every Mary Adkins in my research.
Often-times people will just run with something like that and it will eventually become a surname. I have seen “None”, as in “No Last Name” turn into the surname “Nunn”. I have asked a few where they got the surname and all I get was that “So-and-so told me it was Nunn, so I just ran with it.” When it is quite obvious where the error originated.
I have no documented proof on the subject of Keziah…doubtful there are any records really, but will say that those that came after her, well…there were alot of Adkins/Fry marriages in my line. Which leads me to believe the Ronnie is probably correct in his findings.
