Hello! I am new to this site and to searching my family’s history. I have been searching on and off for the past year.
Family story is that my gr gr grandmother on my father’s side was a Blackfoot. She married a man named Dupree and they had a daughter named Lydia or Liddie Dupree who married John Henry Flansburg. They are my grandmother’s,Laura Flansburg Coon, parents.
In my searching I believe my gr gr grandmother’s name could be Mary. The 1880 Census for Manheim in Herkimer County in NY shows a Mary Johnson married to Bradford Johnson and his step-children being a Laura Duprey and George Duprey and they had a neighbor Liddie Dupree Flansburg (gr grandmother).
I believe my gr gr grandmother was born in Mississippi around 1831.
I still need to confirm alot, but this is from census I have been able to look at.
So gr gr grandmother could be named Mary and do not know a given last name. She married a Dupree and so forth.
Any suggestions on how to tackle this would be helpful.
I am trying to read and research Blackfoot history etc. also.
From the ages of Lydia, Laura and George on the 1880 census it looks like they could be siblings. Have you seen the 1870 census for Saratoga Springs NY? There are three Dupray siblings listed there (Lydia 7, Laura 6, and George 2). However their parents are listed as Susan and Abran Dupray (who also have a daughter named Mary).

This fits for I have my gr grandmother Lydia’s birthdate as November 1863. I will try researching Susan & Abram Dupray. Thank you for this information. I had not seen the 1870 census. I have also found Dupree family sites on line that I am searching also. One has a notation concerning a son who traveled with the Cherokee in southern states around the era of my gr gr grandma. So, lots of searching to do. Thank you again. I appreciate any help getting leads to finding my gr gr grandparents.
