Black Wall Street in Oklahoma

This may not be the right place to post this bit of history, but I was and still am at a lost for words here. This might be of some interest to those on borad here in terms of knowing what our ancestors possessed — the ability to have wealth destroyed in the twinkling of an eye. I am not posting it for the “ism/schism division, but as I said I am am at a lost for words.

Last word: I think about the current events in Arizona and hang my head in sadness as folks try to destroy our history, and in some cases a history we do not know because of what is simply going now (e.g. Arizona) – the further erosion of truth and what people of color, our ancestors have contributed to, their blood and sweat. I am dumbfounded. No one ever told me about this event until now. I am just learning about it now.

Does anyone have ancestors who may have been affected by these horriable events?

“Black Wall Street was a prime example of the typical black community in America that [conducted viable] businesses, but it was in an unusual location. You see, at the time, Oklahoma was set aside to be a[n African] and Indian state. There were over 28 black townships there. One third of the people who traveled in the terrifying “Trail of Tears” along side the Indians between 1830 to 1842 were black people.”
