Native American genealogy research from the Piedmont of NC & VA
Hi, I am new to the forum and hoping to make some puzzle pieces fit in my family research project. I am looking for information on the Edward Blackwell family line. Edward b. 1806 in NC married “Siney” or “Sinea”, who was a Blackfoot Indian girl b. 1817 in SC. She and Edward blackwell were married Feburaruy 2, 1835 in Monroe Co. Alabama. Laws during this time required Christian names for legal marriages. Judge Frances Ward, who married Edward and “Siney” gave her the Christian name-Harriet Ward. This was the name of one of his daughters. I have been unable to link Edward with any Blackwell families in NC during the 1800s and have hit a brick wall. Any information will be greatly appreciated!
This information was provided to me by Angie Blackwell Pentz and is resourced by the Lem Blackwell Family Bible and notes from research of Annell Compton. Thanks!
